About me
I am a passionate and driven student currently completing a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Cell and Molecular Biology. I have always been fascinated by the complexity and intricacy of biological systems, particularly how cellular mechanisms influence health and disease.
I chose Cell and Molecular Biology as my major because of its foundational importance in modern science, medicine, and the world as a whole. This degree has given me a deep understanding of life at the molecular level, which is crucial for breakthroughs in fields like genetics, biotechnology, and disease research, something as a child I was always curious about. Through this degree, I have gained hands-on laboratory experience, developed analytical skills, and learned how to critically interpret scientific literature, all of which will prepare me for a range of opportunities in future careers, both scientific and educational fields.
My journey
My career goals have evolved significantly since I first began this degree. Over the past three years, I have worked with the Department of Education in a School for Specific Purposes as well as Southern Lights Vocal Academy as a vocal teacher, and these experiences have reshaped my professional aspirations. I quickly realised that working as an educator and making a meaningful impact on students is what I truly want to pursue long-term.
My short-term goal is to successfully complete my degree this semester, while gaining as much laboratory and transferable experience as possible. My long-term goal is to undertake a Master of Teaching (Secondary), followed by a Master’s in Special Education. While studying, I plan to continue working as a Student Learning Support Officer to further refine my teaching skills and deepen my experience in inclusive education settings.
